Hundreds of pupils were sent home from King Alfred School in Highbridge on Tuesday morning (November 25th) after an overnight break-in.
The school’s A Block was struck by burglars and around 750 students in years 7, 8 and 9 were not in today.
Headmaster Keith Diffey told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police have sealed off the block while they complete their forensics work, and it’s for that reason we sent the children home today.”
“Fortunately, it’s been a relatively minor break-in with just a few projectors taken.”
He added that pupils will be able to return to school tomorrow as normal.
Police spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A break-in was reported to us at 6am and investigations are continuing. We would appeal for any witnesses to come forward by contacting 0845 456 7000.”
