Cracks running along the seafront besides Burnham-On-Sea’s sea wall are to be repaired this week, council bosses have confirmed.
Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have carried out an inspection and found that the black mastic type material that was used to fill the cracks previously has deteriorated, probably due to the extreme hot weather.”
“There are three areas where the cracking is wider and deeper and these areas will be filled in as soon as possible.”
“The county’s highways department would not allow The Esplanade to be closed at such a busy holiday time and suggested we do a temporary repair this week followed by a permanent repair at the end of the season.”
