Brean couple thank community for their support after devastating fire

-

A Brean couple whose home was destroyed in a fire have this week thanked Burnham-On-Sea.com’s visitors for their messages of support and offers of help.

This website broke the news on November 23rd that a devastating fire had swept through the wooden chalet close to Brean Down Bird Gardens belonging to beach warden Ron Sharrard and his partner Angela Davies.

Fire crews from across the county tackled the huge blaze, but could not save the couple’s home or two Yorkshire Terriers trapped inside.

Messages of support for Ron and Angela, who are due to get married in December, have been posted on Burnham’s discussion forums along with offers of help and on Monday, the couple thanked Burnham-On-Sea.com’s users.

The couple also appeared on BBC Points West on Tuesday, where they again thanked local people for their support.

Ron told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are very grateful for all the wishes of support. No-one really knows how many friends they have until something terrible like this happens.”

“Angela and I have been together for five years and will be marrying later this month, and are keen to start a new life together. The last fortnight has been a real test.”

The couple are set to marry on Monday December 22nd, his birthday, and are now busily making final plans for their big day.

A fundraising charity night is to be held this Saturday, December 6th, at the Railway Inn on Burnham’s High Street when the proceeds will be donated towards the couple’s honeymoon.
