A Burnham-On-Sea mother and her sister hope to raise thousands of pounds for a cancer support centre after her son was diagnosed with the illness.
Elaine Luscombe’s son Peter is receiving treatment for Germ Cell Cancer and she and her twin, Celia Martin, have launched a fundraising campaign to raise money for the centre that is helping him.
So far they have held two car boot sales and raised £213 and they are now planning a sponsored head shave at The Reed’s Arms on Burnham seafront on Sunday 24th August a 3pm.
All money raised will go to the Hammersmith Hospital and the Velindre Cancer Hospital in Cardiff where Elaine’s son has been treated and his family supported.
“We are so grateful for all the support that the hospital has given us and we wanted to help them by raising money for the work they do,” said Elaine.
“We hoipe to raise a good sum and anyone who would like to help that can sponsor the twins head shave or attend one of their events.”
Sponsorship forms are available from The Reed’s Arms, Burnham Community Centre, BOS Interiors, Material Needs, Rectory Stores, JSB Hairdressers (who will be doing the head shave) and The Princess Theatre.
This will be followed by a coffee morning at Burnham-On-Sea Community Centre in Berrow Road on 20th September between 10am and 12pm.
