Huge £84,205 boost for planned new Brean to Weston cycle path

-

A new cycle path between Brean Down and Weston Pier has been given a major financial boost from the Government this week.

The eight-mile traffic-free ‘Brean Way’ cycle and walking route is due to open in May, as first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com here.

Burnham-On-Sea MP James Heappey has welcomed the Government’s decision to award £84,205 to deliver the new cycle path connecting Brean Down to the nearby campsites and to Weston Super Mare.

The award was made as part of the fourth round of the Coastal Communities Fund.

Mr Heappey told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The announcement is great news for Brean and the wider visitor economy in the Burnham area.”

“Huge numbers of people stay in Brean, Burnham and Weston throughout the tourism season so this cycle path will provide a much needed road safety improvement, enhancing the experience of visitors and increasing footfall by making it easier for visitors to Weston to get to Brean and Burnham by bike.”
