Somerset County Council has apologised to seafront motorists in Burnham-On-Sea following technical problems with its parking meters when the summer tariff started at the weekend.
Several motorists got in touch with Burnham-On-Sea.com after the meters refused to take payments – even though the signs next to them stated that the Spring payment period had begun, causing confusion.
A spokeswoman for Somerset County Council told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There was a problem with some of the parking meters when the Summer Tariff kicked in.”
“The problem has been sorted and no-one who parked in the area over the weekend received a Penalty Charge Notice as far as we are aware.”
