Burnham-On-Sea man appears in court on explosives charges

A Burnham-On-Sea man accused of making explosives appeared at Taunton Magistrates Court on Monday (January 23rd).

Philip Leonard, from Beatty Way, faces four charges of making explosive substances for unlawful purposes.

It is alleged the activities took place between 31st December 2011 and 21st January 2012.

Mr Leonard spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. District Judge David Parsons remanded Mr Leonard into custody to appear at Taunton Crown Court on February 6th

Dozens of people were evacuated around the man’s home throughout Friday and taken to a temporary rest centre at Burnham Community Centre.
