Council go-ahead for 17 new homes next to Burnham’s Tesco store

-

Plans to build 17 new homes next to Burnham-On-Sea’s Tesco supermarket have been given the support of town councillors this week.

The development of vacant land to the west of the Tesco store in Burnham’s Ben Travers Way was discussed by members of the Town Council’s Planning Applications Committee this week, who gave backing to the ‘reserved matters’ application.

An original planning application for 17 homes at the site was approved by Sedgemoor District Council in February 2014 despite objections from local residents.

Several conditions have placed on the developer to protect the privacy and ‘amenity’ of nearby residents.

The applicant, EG Carter & Co, is seeking consent for ‘reserved matters’ items covering the appearance, landscaping, layout and scale of the site.

Town councillors considered the updated scheme on Tuesday night and passed it without further observations. A final decision now rests with Sedgemoor District Council.
