A property developer has submitted a planning application to build a further 13 new homes at the former British Telecom Radio Station site in Highbridge.
Bellway & George Wimpey had originally intended to build a new nursing home on the site in Worston Road, but it has now removed the building from its plans and wants to build 13 extra dwellings in its place.
The application, which is for full planning permission, was registered in December and will be considered by Sedgemoor District Council over the next few weeks. Local residents can submit comments about the scheme until January 20th.
Proposals to build 190 homes at the site were given the go-ahead in 2007, as reported here by Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The former radio station was demolished in 2007, as covered here, when the radio station’s buildings were bulldozed to make way for the new housing estate.
The radio station itself shut in April 2000 after being active for 72 years.
