Met Office warns of possible snowfall in Burnham-On-Sea today

-

Motorists in the Burnham-On-Sea area have been warned to expect icy road conditions today (Saturday) following temperatures of around -6°C overnight and several centimetres of snowfall possible later today.

A Met Office amber warning remains in place for potential snowfall and sleet this afternoon which may turn to rain later in the day.

The Met Office warns: “A band of snow is expected to move slowly across England and Wales during Saturday afternoon and evening. Accumulations of snow of around 5cm are likely in places.”

“The public are advised that some travel disruption may result. Snow is like to turn to sleet then rain later on Saturday.”

Key routes in and out of Burnham and Highbridge are being gritted by Somerset County Council as a precaution this weekend.
