Scenes like these could be repeated in Burnham-On-Sea over the next 24 hours after forecasters predicted snow will sweep into the area.
The Met Office has issued a ‘yellow warning’ of possible snowfall across the region on Thursday night and Friday, as shown on the map below.
The Met Office says: “An area of snow is expected to develop over east and northeast England later on Thursday, and then during Friday this will extend steadily southwestwards into central and some southwestern parts of England.”
“Whilst there is uncertainty regarding where the heaviest and most persistent snow will fall, accumulations of up to about 10cm are possible in the worst affected regions.”
The public are being asked to be aware that the weather conditions could cause travel disruption. Temperatures have dipped to -5°C on several nights this week, prompting roads to be gritted.
