Fast food chain bosses consider former restaurant in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Bosses from fast food chain Subway visited Burnham-On-Sea this month to view a former restaurant on the town’s High Street which was being considered as the location for their new store.

Burnham-On-Sea.com was first to report in December that Subway wants to open a restaurant in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea during 2009.

The company has already been in contact with several estate agents about acquiring premises in the town centre and has just viewed the former Chandni restaurant at 54 High Street, which was vacated last November when it moved to larger premises next door.

Simon Holmes, Subway’s Franchise Sales & Property Acquisition Manager for the South West, confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have looked at a premises in the High Street that was previously occupied by an Indian restaurant.”

“We felt that its size is good for us, but its location is too far down the High Street for us. We want to be more in the centre of town.”

“We have considered several properties and the search continues.”

Subway is a global restaurant franchise that sells sandwiches, called ‘subs’, and salads. It has over 30,342 franchised units in 87 countries and claims to be the fastest growing food franchise in the world.

The company has also looked at the building currently occupied by JPS Shoes, on the corner of Pier Street and the High Street, whose lease is currently for sale, as Burnham-On-Sea.com reported earlier this year. It says the building was too big for its needs.
