Holocaust Memorial Day was marked in Highbridge on Tuesday (January 27th) with a short service next to the town’s Frank Foley Statue.
Dozens of residents attended the ceremony, which was led by Highbridge’s vicar, Reverend Robin Lodge, in Bank Street, as pictured here.
The service included several Bible readings, the reciting of the Act of Commitment, plus prayers and a blessing besides the statue outside Highbridge Community Centre in Bank Street.
Highbridge-born Frank Foley was employed as a UK Passport Control Officer in Berlin between 1920 and 1939, and helped hundreds of Jews escape from Nazi Germany before the outbreak of World War Two.
