Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s Church to re-open after renovation

-

Work on a major refurbishment of Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s Church has been completed and the building re-opened on Sunday (May 14th).

The building has been undergoing a programme of internal improvements – the first for 40 years.

St Andrew’s Church opened its doors after being closed for four months during the renovation work. The congregation have been meeting in the Church Hall instead.

Associate Priest Reverend Sharon Eldergill told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are delighted to be able to welcome people back into our 700-year-old church building after renovation works.”

“The church has been painted throughout, the Organ pipes restored, and a new lighting system installed.”

“This last week has seen an army of parishioners cleaning, polishing and reinstalling furnitures – their hard work has paid off, and the church looks beautiful and welcoming.”

“St Andrew’s Church is a building that has been handed down from generation to generation with love and care for the people of Burnham-On-Sea. These new works ensure a place for the community here to come and share in Parish Worship and to enjoy the peacefulness of the building for generations to come.”
