Burnham-On-Sea youngsters flock to auditions for community musical

-

Over 40 young people from across Burnham-On-Sea grabbed the opportunity to appear in a new community production of the musical ‘Pinafore Pirates’ on Tuesday (February 28th).

Budding young actors and actresses queued up at the BAY Centre where leaders from Burnham-On-Sea Dreamscheme held auditions for the autumn production.

The children were invited to read a few lines from a script and sing a few lines from their favourite songs to help the team assess their performing abilities.

The performance of the junior light opera ‘Pinafore Pirates’ by Malcolm Sircom is due to held in the town in late September this year to give the young cast plenty of time to rehearse.

The story has many references to the Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado and HMS Pinafore. With 15 songs and great humour, it is set to be a show worth seeing.

“If there is anyone who would be willing to lend a hand and expertise, we have a junior production team willing to learn. The set will be fairly basic – as will the costumes – but any support would be welcomed. If you would like to assist us with this maiden voyage of the Dreamscheme, then contact Jacqui Strong of the Dreamscheme,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The group thanked all those families and children who turned up and patiently waited for their turn to be assessed. The panel of Sam Nicol, Jonathan Smith and Jacqui Strong said it was much appreciated.
