Burnham-On-Sea’s MP, David Heathcoat-Amory, has expressed his “delight” at the news that work to complete the Frank Foley Parkway will finally get underway next week.
He told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Thursday evening (February 26th) that the County Council’s long-awaited announcement – first reported here – was very welcome.
“At long last this ‘road to nowhere’ will be completed. Somerset County Council had to be prodded all the time, but I’m glad that finally some money was raised from the nearby housing development and this much needed link will be completed this summer,” said Mr Heathcoat-Amory, pictured above at the road with campaigner Cllr Alan Ham.
Cllrs Ham and Bob Filmer have worked alongside the MP for many years, campaigning to get the final piece of the road completed.
Councillor Ham said on Thursday: “The completion of the road will make an enormous difference to the quality of life for residents in the area surrounding Frank Foley Parkway-easier access to the M5 motorway and local facilities in Highbridge. I am delighted that after many years of campaigning, completion is in sight.”
And Councillor Filmer added: “The residents of the Rosewood Estate have lacked facilities for a long time and the intervention of Sedgemoor in securing the contributions from developers has finally brought a much-needed link to fruition.”
