Police have seized this mini-motorbike after angry residents complained it was being riding on play equipment at Highbridge’s Apex Park.
Police swooped on the 17 year-old rider this week and issued him with a warning, before seizing the bike because it had no insurance.
PCSO Gill Bawler, pictured here with the bike, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We received several calls from residents at Apex regarding a youth on a motorbike – one caller even said it was being ridden on the play equipment.”
“An S59 warning was issued to the rider – these are issued for vehicles being driven in an anti-social manner, causing harassment, alarm or distress.”
“The first notice is a warning, which stays with both the vehicle and rider. If a further notice is issued within 12 months, the police have the power to seize the vehicle.”
“On this occasion, the motorbike was seized for having no insurance and it will remain at Burnham police station for seven days. If the registered keeper does not prove he has insurance, the bike will be destroyed.”
In a separate incident last week, Burnham-On-Sea.com reported how police had seized a parked car in Highbridge after it was left blocking Church Street.
