A sponsored chest shave was one of several fundraising events held in the town on Friday (March 13th) to raise money for Comic Relief.
The Somerset and Dorset pub’s chef bared his chest in front of a large crowd to help raise hundreds of pounds on Red Nose Day. Sponsorship donations and an evening of karaoke earned over £500.
Elsewhere in the town, Burnham-On-Sea’s Little Imps childminding group children held a sponsored walk, dressed in their pyjamas, at Apex Park which raised several hundred pounds.
And youngsters at Burnham’s Octopus Centre took part in a day of fundraising, as did staff and students at King Alfred School in Highbridge, who raised more than £1,000 by holding their annual non-uniform and fancy dress day.
Burnham-On-Sea’s Little Imps Childminding group, pictured above, joined in the Red Nose Day fun by taking part in a sponsored walk, dressed in their pyjamas, to Apex Park where they enjoyed a picnic. Organiser Karen Smart said the event had been “a great success and everyone had a lot of fun.”
Staff at Sedgemoor District Council raised over £335 for Comic relief by taking part in numerous events, including a ‘who’s the most red dressed’ competition within the regeneration service, a ‘guess the celebrity sweepstake’, a ‘hula-hoop-off’ (pictured), a dress down day and cake selling. A dozen teams took part in the ‘hula-hoop-off’ and certificates were presented by Kerry Rickards, Chief Executive, to the winners Dominique Spencer and Jan Wilson, plus the runners up Doug Bamsey and Hannah Evans; and Sarah Price and Louise Potter.
