Crowds of visitors flocked to Burnham-On-Sea Horticultural Society’s annual Spring Show on Saturday (March 10th).
Organisers said the event in St Andrew’s School had been “a resounding success” with more than 280 entries on show.
The overall trophy for the best exhibit in the show was shared by David Buckton and Brian Musgrove, for their floral entries.
Show Secretary David Bryant told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We saw a good number and quality of entries this year. The mild winter provided ideal growing conditions and this has been reflected in the standard of entries.”
“The total number of exhibitors was up and we were particularly pleased to see lots of entries in the children’s categories this year.”
In addition to flowers, the entries included gardening, cookery, floral art and photography.
The cup for the most points in the children’s classes was won by Ophelia Buckton, while Catherine Tolley won the Joan Gass Cup.
The society’s president, Beth Whetstone, 94, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am so pleased to see a good number of young people entering the show this year. They are the show’s lifeblood for the future.”
