Burnham-On-Sea’s beach was transformed into a military training ground on Monday afternoon (March 16th) when the physical ability of a group of young cadets was put to the ultimate test.

Eighteen Royal Marine cadets from King’s College Taunton CCF took part in a series of rigorous tests aimed at assessing their fitness.

A small crowd of onlookers gathered along the North Esplanade to watch the spectacle, pictured here, as the recruits were put through their paces in thick mud.

Kings College spokeswoman Becky Grove told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The mud at Burnham is ideal for our final training session before the cadets earn their cap badges.”

“Today, they’ve been crawling through mud, running along the beach, and completing several other physical exercises aimed at testing them to the limit.”

“They’ve been very closely monitored throughout so they were never in any danger. They all had a great day which they are sure to remember for a long time to come.”
