Hinkley Point plans discussed at Burnham-On-Sea RNLI’s AGM

-

More than 30 supporters and crewmembers of Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat station attended its AGM on Friday evening (March 16th).

The meeting, which was held at Burnham Sailing Club, began with a talk by guest speaker David Eccles from EDF Energy.

He discussed how the planned Hinkley Point C building work will affect leisure and commercial shipping in and around Bridgwater Bay.

Burnham Lifeboat Operations Manager Ricky Holmes then looked back at a quiet year of ‘shouts’ for the Burnham station.

He said there had been just 14 call-outs over the past 12 months, which is thought to be due to increased safety awareness among local mariners.

Updates were also given on educational visits, fundraising acitivities, safety visits and the state of the RNLI across the UK.

Chairman Graham Wills also praised the good team work in place with BARB and Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards.
