Two huge cranes towered over Burnham-On-Sea’s Sailing Club on Monday morning (March 30th) when the annual spring ‘crane-in’ saw 19 boats hoisted into the River Brue.
The event is arranged by Burnham Sailing Club every year at this time so that boats can be lifted out of the sheltered boat yard into the river for the start of the new sailing season.
The delicate operation to move the boats was carried out over several hours in perfect weather conditions on Monday.
“A total of 19 yachts were craned into the river and three winter fishing boats were taken out. It was perfect weather for it – calm and mild conditions,” the Sailing Club’s Compound Officer, Ted Tratt, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
