Burnham-On-Sea Mayor praises church’s 50th anniversary show

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Mayor and Mayoress were the VIP visitors at a unique quilt and flower show held at a local church over the weekend to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Mayor Bill Hancock and his wife Mayoress Frances toured the three-day exhibition at the Catholic Church in Burnham Road.

“We had over 50 hand-made quilts and floral displays on show, which were enjoyed by a good turnout over the three days. We had lots of lovely, positive feedback,” co-organiser Pat Nicholls told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Co-organiser Sue Harvey added: “Some of the visitors came from as far afield as Essex.”

“We had lots of different groups and friends from across community taking part – it was a lovely exhibition.”

The Mayor told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “What a wonderful display! It’s been a fantastic effort by many people to hold this display.”

“I congratulate the organisers and everyone who took part.”
