Funding boost helps Apex Park provide new events and workshops

-

Members of Highbridge’s Friends of Apex Park received a grant cheque worth £2,615 from the Somerset Community Foundation on Wednesday (April 8th).

The funding will enable them to provide a new events workshop programme and also to run national activities throughout the year.

Somerset Community Foundation spokeswoman Julie Patterson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Somerset Community Foundation is a local independent charity that raises funds and makes grants available to a wide range of community projects and voluntary groups which benefit local people.”

A kite-making workshop will be held by the Friends of Apex Park at the Apex information point on Saturday 11th April from 10.30am – 11.30am.

The Punch and Judy shows and balloon making will be taking place for children on Good Friday 10th April and Saturday 11th April and Easter Monday 13th April. All shows will be taking place at 12 noon and 2pm on the grass near to Apex car park.

Somerset Ornithological Society will lead a walk from Apex Park’s car park on Saturday 18th April at 9.30am. There will be a question and answer session afterwards, followed by refreshments at the Information Point.

As part of the Big Lottery funding, play rangers continue to encourage youngsters by making the most of their local parks and open spaces. They meet children every Wednesday from 4-6pm next to the skate park. Free activities include making dens, as well as sports activities, activity trails, ‘chill-out’ zones and more.
