Burnham-On-Sea shop window competition winners are announced

-

The winners of Burnham-On-Sea’s annual competition to find dozens of odd items hidden in shop windows across the town were announced on Tuesday evening (April 21st).

Burnham’s Deputy Mayor, Derick Coooper, and the Chamber of Trade’s outgoing Chairman, Alex Turco, handed over prizes to the winners before the group’s AGM, as pictured here.

The popular ‘spot the odd item in the window’ contest is run each year by the Chamber Of Trade and sees the public being invited to find items that shops don’t usually display in their windows.

First prize of £100 cash went to Shirley Schofield, who was the only person to name all 38 odd items correctly. Second place of a £20 Sea Breeze voucher went to Tommy Saunter, while third was Thalia Weeks, who won a £19 Waves & Shades voucher.

Several participants shared fourth prize. A Ritz Cinema voucher was awarded to Miss JM Grant, while a fish and chip meal for four at the Pier Pavilion went to Rebecca and James Duckering, and a jar of traditional sweets from Roly’s Fudge Pantry went to Jack Millier.

Mr Turco said: “Thank you to all 80 entrants for taking part. The Chamber’s thanks also go to all businesses who displayed an odd item. The winner of the best odd item was Salisbury’s Florists for the second year running for the green string down the window.”
