Plan to turn Burnham-On-Sea public loos into bungalows win approval

-

The owner of this block of former public loos in Burnham-On-Sea looks set to be ‘flushed with success’ after town councillors this week gave a green light to plans to turn the building into two new bungalows.

The new owners of the property in Hall Terrace, off Seaview Road, have requested full planning permission to convert the property into one bedroom homes, as first reported here last month.

At their meeting on Tuesday (May 6th), members of the town council’s planning committee passed the application without any observations. The application will now go to Sedgemoor District Council’s planning department for the final go-ahead.

The toilets were shut in April 2007 amid vandalism and anti-social behaviour and never re-opened despite pressure from town councillors and tourism bosses, who argued that more public loos are needed in Burnham.
