Burnham-On-Sea church launches new monthly dementia help group

-

A new group aimed at helping those living with the effects of Dementia and other forms of vulnerability has launched in Burnham-On-Sea.

The town’s St Andrew’s Church is starting a new regular Dementia-friendly event called ‘Third Thursday – A place to feed Body and Soul’.

Associate Vicar of St Andrews, Reverend Sharon Eldergill, who is also a member of the recently-formed Burnham and Highbridge Dementia Action Alliance, explained how the new event aims to help local people.

She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Third Thursday is an exciting new venture that’s held in the Church at 2.30pm each Third Thursday of the month as part of our commitment at St Andrew’s to those living with the effects of Dementia and other forms of vulnerability, and their carers.”

“Open to all, people of all faiths or none, Third Thursday offers a short simple church service with familiar and well-loved hymns, bible readings and prayers to feed and nourish the soul.”

“The service is followed by tea and coffee, cake and sandwiches to feed the body, whilst getting to know others living with similar circumstances.”
