Highbridge girl’s delight as she receives letter of thanks from the Queen

-

A St John Ambulance Badger from Highbridge has spoken of her delight at receiving a letter from the Queen thanking her for a Jubilee card she made.

Leah Adams, 10, decided that she would produce the special greeting card as part of her Creative Badger activities.

She produced the card using diamonds to illustrate the Queen’s 60-year reign and decorated it in the colours of the Union Jack.

Inside, she sent a message of celebration and a message telling Her Majesty that the St John Badgers are also celebrating an anniversary of their own – their 25th.

Julia Gibson, the sett leader, was so impressed with her ingenuity that she decided that the card should be sent to Buckingham Palace and she wrote a covering letter and the card was sent.

Friday saw a reply thanking the badgers and leader of Highbridge with a personal letter to Leah thanking her for her kind thoughts.

“When Leah was presented with the letter, her face lit up with delight, saying she never thought that she would actually get a reply and wasn’t it cool that the Queen had taken time to read a card from a little girl,” Julia told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

This year will see many activities across the country to celebrate both the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and St John Ambulance’s celebrations.
