Long-standing Burnham-On-Sea County Councillor Mike Facey has this week been praised for his community work in the town as he steps out of local politics.
Mr Facey has represented the Burnham North ward for 12 years, and has decided not to contest his seat in this Thursday’s County Council elections.
During a town council meeting on Monday night (June 1st), his work was praised by Burnham’s Mayor Cllr Derick Cooper and Deputy Mayor Danny Titcombe.
Cllr Cooper said: “We express our gratitude to you for all your work in Burnham during the last 12 years and wish you well in your political retirement.”
Cllr Facey, who will continue his work as a plumber, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I have enjoyed the last 12 years immensely and will miss my ward members and fellow councillors.”
