Local children’s winning artwork goes on display at exhibition

-

Homes in Sedgemoor recently held a children’s art competition and the winning entries from local pupils are being exhibited in Bridgwater until Friday 18th August for everyone to see.

Local schools were invited to take part, with the theme of ‘Homes and Housing’ and 105 entries were received.

Jen Barfoot, Managing Director at Homes in Sedgemoor judged the entries from Churchfield Church School, Penrose School, North Newton Primary School and Brent Knoll Primary School.

There were 16 winners, each receiving high street vouchers. All other entrants received a £10 voucher each.

The Engine Room held a private launch for the winners, their families and teachers on 20th July to celebrate.

Jen said: “It’s been a huge pleasure to see the fantastic artwork sent in by the children and young people across Sedgemoor. The judging was so hard, and we have some terrific winners. I’m looking forward to meeting them all at The Engine Room, where they will be able to see their framed work displayed.”

The exhibition is running for four weeks and entry is free at The Engine Room in Bridgwater. It is open Monday to Friday from 10am until 4pm, (Tuesdays late till 8.45pm). It will also open on Saturday 29 July for the Quayside Festival from 12 noon till 5pm.

Phil Shepherd, Facilitator of Somerset Film at The Engine Room, said: “We are delighted to showcase this brand new collection of life affirming children’s art. The show will make a vibrant addition to the forthcoming Quayside Festival and a perfect fit with our family friendly programme of activities at the Engine Room this summer.”
