Work to resurface part of the M5 motorway has been completed following a lorry crash which caused major delays to motorists in the Burnham-On-Sea area on Friday (August 4th).
The hard shoulder plus two lanes of the northbound carriageway were shut for much of the day after two lorries collided, leaving a fuel leak and causing queues of up to four hours for holiday traffic.
Highways England carried out emergency resurfacing of the damaged carriageway, which was completed on Frday evening.
A paramedic at the scene of the crash confirmed that no-one had been injured in Friday’s crash, however the incident created tailbacks of over 15 miles at the peak of the summer holiday season, causing huge disruption.
