Scorching summer temperatures in Burnham-On-Sea have led to soaring trade for tourism businesses in the town this week.
Visitors have been buying ice creams and cool drinks in their droves as temperatures hit 30°C on Wednesday afternoon (July 1st).
Burnham Pavilion Manager Louise Parkin told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The weather has been wonderful for trade.”
“Sales of ice creams and cold drinks are the highest we’ve seen for ten years.”
“After several wet summers it’s very welcome indeed, particularly during the current economic climate.”
Meanwhile, beaches in Burnham-On-Sea and nearby Brean have also been busier than normal with visitors flocking to the coast to find cooling onshore breezes.
