Police appeal after robbers steal cash in raid on Highbridge’s Asda

-

Police have appealed for information after masked men with crowbars carried out a robbery at a Highbridge supermarket this week.

As first reported here, two men entered Highbridge’s Asda supermarket late on Thursday night and stole a large quantity of cash.

Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the incident occurred at 11pm on Thursday evening. DC Matthew Stevenson added: “Two masked men in possession of crowbars forced entry into the store and threatened staff. Cash was stolen.”

“Anyone with information which could help our enquiries is asked to contact police by calling 101, quoting reference 126409/14.”

“Alternatively, you can call anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The store was open for business as usual on Friday, however the self-service tills at the front of the store were not in operation and were cordoned off with police tape, as pictured here by a shopper.

Asda issued a brief statement, confirming: “We’re assisting the police with their investigation.”
