Soft sand and fast incoming tides in the Burnham-On-Sea area have again caught out several vehicle owners during the past couple of days.
The huge crane pictured above got into difficulty on Burnham beach, near Maddock’s Slade, while attempting to reach the low lighthouse.
“It got into problems in the soft sand and we had to turn back,” said a spokesman for the crane company.
And in a separate incident at Brean (pictured right), the owner of this car had a lucky escape after going for a walk with his dog and leaving the vehicle on the beach. He forgot the tide was coming in and only just managed to drive away in time.
A beach warden’s van also had to be hauled from the mud at Brean after getting into difficulty.
