A Burnham-On-Sea cardio instructor represented Great Britain in no less than three World Championships within the space of eight days!

Jeannie Fry, who works at Burnham-On-Sea Swim & Sports Academy in Berrow Road, has just returned from Penticton in Canada, where she competed in the Short Course World Duathlon Championships.

She took part in the event – which comprises a 5km run, 20km cycle ride, and then a 2.5km run – and picked up a superb fourth place, just 20 seconds away from a bronze medal.

The World Aquathlon Championships (swim 1km an run 5km) also took place where Jeannie took another fourth place and her second World Championship medal!

The final event was no less than the Long Course World Triathlon Championships, a grueling swim of 3,000 metres, 120km bike ride and a run of 30km, which took place under extreme race conditions of 33 degrees.

“Jeannie battled heat exhaustion and dehydration during the race, but her grit and determination ensured she battled through to claim a brilliant 11th place at the World Long Course Distance Triathlon Championships. Huge congratulations!” said the Academy’s Sara Cox Conklin.
