Christmas morning tour of town for Burnham’s Mayor and Town Crier

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor and Town Crier brought a smile to the faces of elderly residents in the town on Christmas morning.

Cllr Martin Cox and Alastair Murray visited several care homes and patients at Burnham Hospital in a classic 1938 Austin 10 car.

The duo said they wanted to spread a little festive cheer around the town.

“We started at the hospital where we sang carols with the patients, accompanied by some of the Town Band,” Alastair told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“After joining the patients in a little sherry and a few mince pies, we went on to Kathleen Chambers home, where the Mayor and I had a pleasant time chatting to the residents and staff.”

“We then drove on to Frith House where we met the residents and chatted with them which was enjoyable. We left just as their Christmas lunch was about to be served.”
