A group of Burnham-On-Sea residents is taking part in a Community Weight Loss Challenge, with a new one about to begin in the New Year.
The 12-week weight loss challenge sees slimmers competing to lose the most weight to win a cash prize.
“The latest winner, Soo Brown, has won £125. She not only lost weight but feels healthier, more energetic and has a greater understanding of nutrition,” says organiser Chelle Gibbs, a personal wellness coach.
“The Weight loss challenge runs for 12 weeks covering different subjects such as protein, sugars and water and encourages people to think about the food they choose for not only themselves but for their family.”
“It will also encourage them to choose and understand the long term benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle.”
“It is so important to understand the importance of the diet choices we make to our short and long term health – everyone has made positive changes to their health and diet,” she added.
“We have really enjoyed running the past 12 weeks and are looking forward to our next Community Weight Loss Challenge in the new year.”
The challenge costs £39 to join, with the money going into a pot to make up the cash prize for the biggest weight loser. For more information, call 07833469357 or 01278 785032.
Dance Fit in Burnham’s Love Lane has supported the group in offering a meeting room for free and also offering half-price dance classes for those who join.
