Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards were called to the town’s beach on Saturday evening (September 9th) after a person reported hearing ‘cries for help’.
The Coastguard team was called to the beach opposite the Round Tower Guesthouse at 5.20pm, as pictured here.
The first informants had reported hearing the cries for help from an area nearby on Burnham-On-Sea beach.
“We talked to the two person who called in the job and carried out a search of the shoreline as the tide was coming in,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“We confirmed the location of the noise and sent two pairs of Coastguards to that area of the beach.”
With no signs of anyone in difficulty despite a thorough search, the Coastguards stood down after confirming that it had been a ‘call with good intent’.
Coastguards added that the first informants had done the right thing in calling 999 at the hint of any concern.
