NatWest bank prepares for closure of Burnham-On-Sea branch

-

NatWest is preparing for the closure of its Burnham-On-Sea branch in October.

NatWest blames declining use for the closure, adding that 53.4% of its customers in Burnham are choosing to use digital banking options.

Robbi Maggs has taken on the role of ‘community banker’ to help customers in Burnham where the branch at the junction of Regent Street and Victoria Street shuts down on October 10th, as reported here by Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The closure comes just months after HSBC shut down its branch in Burnham-On-Sea in January in a similar cost-cutting move.

Robbi told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “As we close three branches in Burnham, Cheddar and Worle, my job is to bridge the gap left after the closure between our communities and the bank.”

“After the closure I will be in Burnham Community Centre every Tuesday from 10am-1pm to assist customers with online banking, free financial health checks, fraud and scam awareness, amongst others.”

Robbi added: “I will be based in Burnham one day a week after the closure and will be a point of contact for the community.”

“We currently have experts in every branch to assist customers with their online banking needs, and we have been working with the local post office so that our customers are aware of all the banking they can do there once we close.”
