BBC1’s Countryfile featured the work of the volunteers at Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search and Rescue on Sunday evening (January 11th).
The Countryfile team filmed an episode in Somerset, revisiting some of the areas and people hit by last winter’s floods.
Presenter Helen Skelton visited the team at BARB, which operates two life-saving hovercrafts and an inshore rescue boat which was kept busy last year helping communities hit by the floods.
Helen took part in a training exercise with the BARB volunteers and heard how they turned their hand from working as a hovercraft rescue crew on the coast to doing their bit to help communities on the Levels.
“We were pleased to welcome the Countryfile team to Burnham and to show viewers the work of our dedicated volunteers,” said a BARB spokesman.
In the episode, farmers, residents, wildlife helpers and businesses that were under water a year ago were also featured.
