First results of Burnham and Highbridge community survey revealed

-

Over 220 people have given their views on Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge by compleing a survey to help create a new Neighbourhood Plan.

The survey, launched last month, is still running asks residents general ‘quality of life’ questions plus specific queries about new housing and the town centres.

“So far, the results show 96% shop locally and 63% use local cafes and restaurants, although 83% travel out of the area for these and other facilities,” the group’s Phil Harvey, pictured with several of the surveys, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“53% think there is a wide variety of shops, while 70% like the intimate nature of the town centre. We also have found that 75% think links with the Esplanade are good, while only 48% regard the area as attractive.”

The survey is available online here and runs until the end of January – and the Neighbourhood Planning Group are keen for more people to complete it.

“It’s important that we gain as much feedback from everyone regarding their opinions on these local points so we would encourage everyone to respond either electronically or on the paper copy,” said Phil.

“We are pleased with the number of responses so far, but would like more people from Highbridge to take part – and also younger people in both towns. The personal information collected will not be passed onto any third party but will help us in deciding how representative the responses are of the population at large.”
