Burnham-On-Sea fire crew tackles ‘deliberate’ blaze in West Huntspill

-

A Burnham-On-Sea fire crew was sent to West Huntspill on Sunday evening (August 30th) after this car was set alight.

One fire engine rushed to Old Pawlett Road at 10.14pm after a nearby resident raised the alarm.

A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Crews from Burnham attended a report of a car on fire on the Old Pawlett Road in West Huntspill.”

“On arrival they found the car to be well alight. They used a hose reel jet and a compressed air foam branch to extinguish the fire.”

“There was 80 per cent damage to the whole car by fire and heat.”

“The crews found an open container of petroleum spirit on the rear seat of the vehicle, indicating that this car fire could have been deliberately ignited.”
