A dead whale that was first spotted in the River Parrett near Burnham-On-Sea last weekend is to be turned into bone meal to be used as fuel for power stations.
The 10 metre whale carcass, which was was washed up near Barry, is being held at a compound in Cardiff before being transported to Dorset by animal and cattle experts Frome Vale.
The firm’s rendering plant deals with many animal carcasses, putting them through a cooking process to make fuel.
Frome Vale has had experience in disposing of marine life and is licensed with Defra in accordance with animal by-products regulations.
Burnham-On-Sea.com was the first to report on Sunday how the huge mammal, pictured here, had been spotted by two jet skiers in the River Parrett in between Combwich and Burnham.
