Four men to appear in court after drugs raids in Burnham-On-Sea area

-

Four men are to appear in court this month after being charged with drug production offences following the discovery of four separate cannabis cultivation set ups in the Burnham-On-Sea area.

Over 300 cannabis plants – with a street value of tens of thousands of pounds – were seized by local officers in the space of two weeks earlier this year and the charges follow the successful investigation of drug-related crime in the area.

A 24 year-old man from Bridgwater was charged with the production of controlled drugs at Lympsham on March 1st and is due to appear before Taunton Deane Magistrates Court on 11th July.

A 43 year-old was also charged with the production of controlled drugs and money laundering following the execution of a search warrant under the Misuse of drugs Act at Alexander Court in Highbridge Quay on March 7th.

On the same date another warrant was executed at The Elms Caravan Park in Pawlett and two men, aged 53 and 45, have been charged with the production of controlled drugs. All three will appear before Taunton Deane Magistrates Court on 25th July.

Sgt Ian Kennett of Burnham Police said: “Our communities in Cheddar, Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge have told me in our public ‘Have Your Say’ meetings that dealing with drug crime is their top priority for police.”

“Our activity is intelligence-led and our communities play a vital part in these successes by providing much of the information. This can be done by speaking to your local neighbourhood beat teams or anonymously via Crimestoppers.”

“My officers will always listen to what you have to say and we will take positive action wherever possible.”
