The body of what is thought to be a young porpoise or dolphin was washed up on Berrow beach on Saturday morning (September 5th), the second such discovery this summer.
Sedgemoor District Council’s Clean Surroundings Team was called at around 8.30am to remove this carcass when a walker spotted it near the beach car park.
A beach warden told Burnham-On-Sea.com that it was not immediately clear what type of mammal it was.
A large porpoise was washed up on Burnham beach in July and Burnham-On-Sea.com also reported in July 2007 that another porpoise had been washed up at Burnham.
Just a week ago, a huge 10 metre long whale was spotted in the River Parrett estuary, which was later retrieved at Barry, on the South Wales coastline.
