Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Men’s Shed Society holds open day

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Men’s Shed Society is holding an open day on Saturday (October 7th) for newcomers to find out about the group.

The group brings together a group of ‘shedders’ who share tools and resources to undertake practical, hands-on projects in a friendly, inclusive environment.

The open day, taking place from 10am-12 noon, will be held at Morland Hall in Pearce Drive, off Morland Road, in Highbridge.

There will be a chance to come along and get involved with woodwork, gardening, model making, personal projects, restoration projects and picture framing.

The group meets every Tuesday and Thursday at Morland Hall between 9.45am-12.45pm and 1.45pm-4.45pm. The cost is £2 per session or an annual membership costs £20.

Tony Cradock, Chairman of the group, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “One of the reasons for the launch of the group is that there are many reports of loneliness among men. They don’t socialise as much as should do and that can lead to all manner of problems.”

“It’s been found that they will socialise if they have an objective, which is where the Men’s Sheds comes in – we provide the facilities to come together. We don’t tell them what to do – they can just come along for a chat and a cuppa if necessary.”
