Fire crews from Burnham and Glastonbury were called to retrieve a cow stuck in the River Brue at East Huntspill on Thursday evening (September 10th).
Two fire engines from Burnham and a rescue tender from Glastonbury attended the incident in Catherine Street at 8pm.
“It took some time to get the cow under control as it was rather lively,” a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The crews eventually put lines around the animal, dug away some of the river bank and assisted it out of the river at 9.25pm.
The owner of the animal, a local farmer, was in attendance during the incident.
