Tickets have gone on sale for a special concert by award-winning modern jazz band Portico Quartet, to be held in Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday October 1st.
Portico Quartet, who are previous winners of the music industry’s Mercury Award, will be performing at The Princess Theatre.
The performance will start at 8pm with doors opening at 7pm. Tickets are available by email or by calling 01278 786725 or from GC Music in College Street. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults or £6 for children and concessions.
“This is music that defies classification and rightly so. More than classical, more than jazz, filtered through the minds of pioneers from Reich to Ra,” is how one reviewer describes them.
“They are a band for the urban jungle, experimenting with more than just the free jazz label they’ll be filed under.”
Princess Hall spokesman Mike Lang said: “This is another type of event that showcases the Princess as a multi-purpose venue. Give us your support and you will be helping our charity bid to run the building on behalf of the community.”
During their tour of the south west, the quartet will also be playing at Wootton Courtenay Village Hall on 23 September, Wookey Hole Club (24 September), Churchinford Village Hall (25 September), Williams Hall in Stoke St Gregory (26 September), Lydford Parish Hall (2 October), Chilcompton Village Hall (3 October) and East Quantoxhead Village Hall (4 October).
