Huge quilt has taken eight months to complete by Burnham group

-

A patchwork quilt that has taken eight months to complete by talented members of Burnham-On-Sea’s University Of The Third Age is being raffled to raise funds for the town’s Community Centre.

Eleven members of the U3A Patchwork Group have spent the year completing the huge artwork, which measures 90 x 80 inches.

Now, tickets have gone on sale to win it. Priced 50p each, they are on sale at the centre and its monthly coffee mornings on October 24th, November 14th and December 19th.

“It has been a lot of work, but we’re delighted with the end result,” organiser Elaine Evans (pictured above) told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “It’s an American Pioneer Patchwork design that is very colourful and unique.”

The quilt was on display for the first time at the community centre’s first coffee morning on Saturday (September 19th).

Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor Derick Cooper and Mayoress Christine Cooper were among the supporters at the event, who are pictured below with Ken Hindle from the Community Centre and Mary Miles of the U3A.
