The work of dozens of local artists has gone on display across the Burnham-On-Sea area with the start of Somerset Art Weeks.
Over 450 artists are showcasing their work in 98 venues across Somerset, from September 19th to October 4th, at group exhibitions and displays.
In Burnham, Redlynch Studios at 19 Rectory Road is displaying work from a group of local contemporary artists and makers. The art work includes handmade bags, mixed media artworks, paintings, textiles and jewellery.
The artists – Mary Stradling, Judith Champion, Sharon Campbell, Carole Watson, Angela Uren, Anita Pegler and Anna Nicolaides – are working on their art and demonstrating in the studios throughout the fortnight.
More work is on display at Sea Breeze Gallery at 37 Victoria Street, which has a ‘Safe Routes’ showcase. ” project explores responses, both the rational and emotional, to the journey to and from school, from local school pupils.
There’s more artwork on show at Duffield Cottage in Vicarage Lane, Mark, where local artists Chris Abbott, Dawn Eadie, Andrew Eadie and Samantha Court are showing paintings, prints, drawings and photography.
“Dawn’s lively paintings are inspired by beautiful Portugal, whilst Andy’s loose vibrant style portrays rural scenes. Samantha Court uses watercolour, acrylics and pencil to perfectly capture beauty in flowers, handbags and shoes, while Chris’s photography celebrates the magnificent landscapes around us with colour and black and white images,” said an Art Weeks spokesman.
